Every system or software requires an update to run efficiently and safely. There are different types of updates available like feature updates, security updates, etc. When you update the system you will get the latest features, fixes, and security improvements to run your system smoothly. When an update available you can see the available updates in the update page, before starting update ensures that you have a high-speed internet connection and your devices are plugged in.

Manually check updates
You can manually check for Windows 10 updates. Select the Start button, then click Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update>Check for updates . If you want to update to the latest version of Windows 10, then go to the Microsoft software download page and download the Windows Update Assistant. Before checking for the updates, ensure that your device is connected to the internet. The time required to complete the update depends on your internet connection speed, network settings, and update size. An update history is available in Windows update, so you can see which updates were installed, and when. To see the update history, go to start button, select Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > View update history.

Stop automatic update on Windows 10
Updating is essential to stay updated with the latest changes in the operating system. But updating process downloads gigabytes of files and also requires a lot of space to install the updates. If you are having a slow connection and your data limit is low then the automatic update will ruin your internet data pack. So you should temporarily disable the automatic updates in Windows 10. To temporarily disable Windows updates, go to Settings> Update & Secirty>Windows update. There you can see several options. Pause updates for 7 days, change active hours, view update history and advanced options. Click Advanced options, there under pause updates, you can choose the number days to which the update is to be paused.

Find the version and build of Windows 10 you have
Do you want to find which version of Windows 10 you are having? To check which version of Windows your device is running, press the Windows logo key + R, the RUN app will be displayed, then type winver in the Run box, and click OK. You can simply type winver in Windows 10 search box, then Winver run command will be displayed, click it to see the Windows 10 build and version. You can also find the Windows 10 version from the about page. To access the page, go to Start button > Settings > System > About.
