Almost everyone is using an email service to send and receive emails. Gmail is a popular free email service from Google, anyone can access Gmail on the web and using third-party programs that synchronize email content through POP or IMAP protocols. Gmail program has tons of features that many of the users still not aware of. Gmail offers a smart reply feature, the AI suggest response based on what you are most likely to write back. You can schedule emails, you can send emails whenever you like. You can save email attachments to Google drive. Any attachments on your email can be saved on your Google drive with a tap or click on the Drive icon in Gmail.

But how many of you know, you can also download your emails from Gmail? Yes, you can download Gmail emails to your computer. The downloaded emails appear as an EML file. An EML file is an email message saved by an email program, such as Gmail, or Microsoft Outlook. The EML file contains the content of the message, along with the subject, sender, recipient, and date of the message.

Download Emails to your Computer
To download a Gmail email to your computer open the Gmail message that you want to download, then click More. Click Download Message in the pop-up box.

Download All Emails from Gmail
Do you want to download all emails from Gmail? Gmail doesn’t have a bulk email download at this time, but there is a workaround to download all emails to your computer. First, go to Download your data page or Google Takeout page. On that page, you can see some Google products are automatically selected. Google products having your data are automatically selected by Google takeout. If you don’t want to download data from a product, uncheck the box beside it. If you only want to download some selected data from a product, then click the option All Gmail Data Included. In the Mail Content Options, check the labels that you want to include. Don’t want to include some of the data, then uncheck the box next to the data. If you want to include all messages, tick Include all messages in Mail. Then click Next Step.

In step 2 you can customize your archive format. You can select a delivery method, download by email, add to drive, add to dropbox, etc. You can select the export type and the compressed file type. Then choose the maximum size archive you want to create. If the data you’re downloading is larger than this size, multiple archives will be created. When your archive is created by using one of these options, Google will email you a link to its location.
