YouTube is one of the fastest growing websites on the internet. As per the statistics, every minute, more than hundred hours of video are uploaded to YouTube. YouTube has over a billion users which is almost one-third of all people on the Internet. You can navigate YouTube in more than 75 different languages and it is the second largest search engine, right after Google.

What equipment’s Needed

To access YouTube videos at HD or 4K quality a high-speed internet connection is required, but you can watch videos at the standard quality or less with a decent internet connection. To upload videos to YouTube the fastest connection is necessary if the file is too big. Now, to create YouTube videos, you need a camcorder or video camera with a microphone. A tripod or some arrangements to fix the camera study. Essential lighting to light up the subject and a good editing software to edit videos properly. If you want to capture your computer screen, a screen recorder is needed.


If you want to make your own videos and to upload it to your YouTube account/channel a good quality video camera or camcorder or a digital camera is needed to record videos. You can use your phone to capture the videos if it supports good quality video recording. iPhone 7 and other new models can shoot videos that look awesome on big screen.


Most of the video camera and digital camera have there owned inbuilt microphone to record the voice. But, if you need more clarity and quality you can use a condenser microphone to record voices. You can attach condenser microphones to your digital camera or you can use it separately.


Tripod is essential if you shoot videos to avoid camera shake. When viewing videos it will be annoying to the viewers. So a good tripod will stabilize the camera.


Lighting is necessary to light up the subject effectively. If you are reviewing a product like a mobile, sufficient lighting is necessary to light up the subject, so that the viewers get the details of the subject.

Editing software

A good editing software helps you to edit the recorded videos and adding the transitions, effects, and titles to your videos. You can save the recorded videos into a different format with a good editing software.

Creating Your own YouTube channel

Create a new YouTube channel
If you have a Google Account, you can watch and like videos and subscribe to channels.  If you need a public presence on YouTube, you need a YouTube channel. For that, you need to create a YouTube channel to upload your videos, write comments, or make playlists.

Selecting the YouTube channel name

When selecting the channel name you have to keep a few things in your mind. Try to choose a relevant name, keep it short, and easily readable. Try to avoid numbers in the channel name as it is not easily memorable.

To create a channel, sign in to YouTube on a computer or using the YouTube mobile site. Try any action that requires a channel, such as uploading a video, posting a comment, or creating a playlist. If you don’t yet have a channel, you’ll see a prompt to create a channel. Now, check the details (your account name and photo) and confirm to create your new channel.

Create a channel with a business or other name
You can set up and manage a special kind of account for your business or brand, called a Brand Account. You can use certain Google services, like Google+ and YouTube, with this account to create an online presence. You and others can jointly manage a Brand Account through your own Google Accounts. You don’t need a separate username or password for a Brand Account. A Brand Account can have multiple owners and people who manage it.

To create a channel that can have multiple managers or owners, go to your channel list. Choose to create a new channel or use an existing Brand Account. Create a new channel by clicking Create a new channel.
Create a YouTube channel for a Brand Account that you already manage by choosing the Brand Account from the list. If this Brand Account already has a channel, you can’t create a new one—you’ll just be switched over to that channel if you select the Brand Account from the list. Fill out the details to name your new channel and verify your account. Then, click Done. This creates a new Brand Account.
To add a channel manager, follow the instructions to change channel owners and managers.

Update your avatar
The channel image from your owned and the operating channel is your default avatar, so you need to have an artist channel on YouTube to be able to change your avatar across your channels. If you don’t have an artist channel that you manage, follow these steps to create a new channel first. Sign in to YouTube. Follow the steps to change your channel’s icon. Images should be in JPG, GIF, or PNG format with a 1:1 aspect ratio and 800 x 800px resolution.

Upload videos
You can upload videos to YouTube easily.  To upload your videos from a computer or from a mobile device, sign in to YouTube. Click on Upload at the top of the page. Before you start uploading the video, you can choose the video privacy settings. Select the video you’d like to upload from your computer. You can also import a video from Google Photos. As the video is uploading, you can edit both the basic information and the advanced settings of the video and decide if you want to notify subscribers (if you uncheck this option, no communication will be shared with your subscribers). You can have a title up to 100 characters and a description up to 5,000 characters. Click Publish to finish uploading a public video to YouTube. If you set the video privacy setting to Private or Unlisted, just click Done to finish the upload or click Share to privately share your video. If you haven’t clicked Publish, your video won’t be viewable by other people. You can always publish your video at a later time in your Video Manager.

Once the upload is completed YouTube will send an email to notify you that your video is done uploading and processing. You can then forward that email to friends or family for easy sharing.
By default, you can upload videos that are up to 15 minutes long. To upload longer videos, you must verify your Google Account. If you have live streaming access, long uploads are enabled by default.

To upload longer videos, first, you must verify your Google Account. Go to the upload page at At the bottom of the page, click Increase your limit. You can also go directly to Follow the steps to verify your Google Account. You can choose to receive a verification code through a text message on a mobile phone or an automated voice call.
Once you’ve verified your Google Account, you can upload videos that are longer than 15 minutes.
Make sure you’re using an up-to-date version of your browser to upload files greater than 20GB.

Schedule a video to publish time
If you want to publish the videos at a specific time, you can use scheduled publishing to schedule a private video to go public at a specific time. You have to first set the video as “scheduled” or “private” on the upload page. Then, you can set the date, time, and time zone that you want your video to be published. The video will stay private until the scheduled time. Now, look at how to do it.  Sign in to your YouTube account. In the top right, click Upload. On the upload page, select the privacy drop-down menu, and select Scheduled or Private. Upload the video using the upload instructions. Your video will begin processing. In the Basic info window, set the date, time, and time zone that you want your video to be published. You can also add a message to subscribers here. At the top of the screen, click the Publish button to confirm scheduled publication. The video will stay private until the scheduled time.

To set the default upload settings
Upload defaults are settings that are applied to all of your web uploads according to your choices. You can choose defaults for your videos’ privacy setting, category, title, tags, comments, language, and more.

To set your video defaults, sign in to YouTube account. In the top right, select your account icon, then Creator Studio. In the menu on the left, select Channel than to Upload defaults. Choose your default settings. Click Save. You can still change settings after you upload a video by going to your Video Manager and selecting a video to modify.

To change your channel name
Sign in to your channel on YouTube. Click your account icon then to settings. In the “Overview” section, click Edit on Google next to your channel name. Update the channel name and click OK.

To change your channel icon
First sign in to your channel on YouTube. Click Menu. Select My Channel. Point your cursor at your channel icon and click Edit.

To change your channel description
Click Menu. Select My Channel. Select the About tab. Under “Description,” click Edit edit. Click Done.

YouTube URLs

ID-based URL
This is the standard URL that all YouTube channels use. It uses your unique channel ID, which is the numbers and letters at the end of the URL.

Legacy username URL
Depending on when your channel was created, it may have a username. Usernames are no longer required for channels today, but you can still use this URL to direct to your channel — even if your channel name has changed since you chose your username. Existing usernames can’t be changed.

Getting a custom URL for your channel
A custom URL is a shorter, easy-to-remember URL that you can share with your audience. Custom URLs are assigned to qualifying channels and can be based on your current display name, your legacy username, or your linked, verified web domain. If your channel is eligible, you can give fans an easy-to-remember web address, called a custom URL, for your YouTube channel. This is called a custom URL and looks like and

Set up a custom URL for your channel
If you’re eligible for a custom URL, you’ll see a notice in your advanced account settings, get an email notification, and may see a notification in your Creator Studio dashboard. Keep in mind that you can’t change a custom URL after creation. Sign in to your YouTube account. Go to your advanced account settings by clicking your icon in the top right, go to Settings. Then click Advanced under your account name. Under “Channel settings,” select the link next to You’re eligible for a custom URL. You’ll only see this link if your channel is eligible. In the “Get a custom URL” box, you’ll see the custom URL(s) you’ve been approved for. You can’t change the part in the gray box, but you may need to add a few letters or numbers to make the URL unique to you. Carefully read and understand the “Custom URL Terms of Use” and select the box to agree to them, then click Change URL. Once a custom URL has been approved, you can’t request to change it, so make sure this is the custom URL you want before clicking Confirm choice. Once you have a custom URL, your audience can reach your channel by using that custom URL e.g.,, which will take viewers to your channel homepage.

Supported YouTube file formats
If you’re not sure which format to save your video as or are getting an “invalid file format” error message when you’re uploading, make sure that you’re using one of the following formats:MOV, .MPEG4, .MP4, .AVI, .WMV, .MPEGPS, .FLV,3GPP, WebM,DNxHR,ProRes, CineForm, HEVC (h265).
