Microsoft office suites are the excellent companion of those who are working with office documents and desktop publishing works. The …

Microsoft office suites are the excellent companion of those who are working with office documents and desktop publishing works. The PowerPoint is an excellent tool for presentation and the excel is the clear winner in the spreadsheet category. For simple document related works, Word is an excellent tool, even though free versions of similar tools like Abiword and Libreoffice Writer are available. Microsoft regularly updates there office tools with powerful tools and implement different graphical interface changes in each releases. In the latest release of Office 2013, Microsoft did a great work to add the PDF editing feature in Office, which is one of the most sought option in Office suite. The new Word is cleaner, sleeker, easier on the eyes and enjoy greater focus and less distraction, with an improved screen-reading experience. The new Word automatically bookmarks your last-visited spot, so you can continue reading after a break, and then pick up where you left off-even on a different PC or tablet. You can open a PDF in the new Word, and its paragraphs, lists, tables, and other content act just like Word content. The new Excel summarizes your data with previews of various pivot-table options, letting you select the option. New Excel recommend the charts that best illustrate your data’s patterns and your workbooks are saved online to SkyDrive or SharePoint by default. New PowerPoint comes with new wide-screen themes and variants, add videos, pictures, and shapes, and you can create customized icons using powerful tools. With the new Outlook 2013 you can follow the very latest updates automatically from people in the social networks you rely on most like LinkedIn, Facebook, and others and you can seamlessly integrate multiple contacts into a single view, while presenting social context and removing needless duplication. Here we are going to look inside the new office suite for the latest addition and investigate is it worth buying?

PDF Editing

Before Office 2013, you need a dedicated PDF editor to edit PDF files. If you want to edit PDF files in Office, first you need to convert it to word (.doc or .docx) format.I n the new Office, you can easily open, edit and save the PDF files. You can also save an edited PDF file as a .docx or as a .pdf file. The structure of the PDF file is retained in the Office, so you can work in the document without altering the layout.

Touchscreen use

As the new Office 2013 is designed to work with the Windows 8 OS-which is also designed for touch interface, the new office suite can work with simple finger swipes. you can easily scroll through the document using the touch functions. If you want to arrange the office toolbar for an easy touch navigation, click the ‘touch mode’ in the quick access toolbar, the toolbar spreads the icons for easy touch access.

Synchronization across devices

In this era of advanced computing, doing office work is possible through tablets and smartphones, sharing the files across the devices is essential for a steady workflow. To available the documents across the devices, save it online, the office documents can retain the last location of the work were before you saved it online.

SkyDrive integration

Skydrive is the Microsoft’s wing to the cloud storage. You can share your work with SkyDrive and Sharepoint. When you save a document or a spreadsheet or a presentation, it will save on the Skydrive account, you can also save it in a local drive.

Enhanced graphics options

With Office 2013, you can easily insert pictures from your local drive or from other online sources. You can insert images to clipart collections using a Bing search or from a Flickr account. If you authorized the office to connect with these online accounts you can use the images from Flickr and Skydrive in your office documents.

As a conclusion, we can say that if you are an Office suite fan this new office 2013 will be a boost your work, if you have some PDF files to edit and you don’t have any dedicated PDF files. You can also use the file synchronization option, if you are using multiple devices.

If you are using PowerPoint for presentation, you may have noticed a situation where you want to explain things through …

If you are using PowerPoint for presentation, you may have noticed a situation where you want to explain things through a video. If you are explaining a process or steps to do some things a video with narration will be an added advantage for explaining things correctly. If you are teacher and using PowerPoint in classrooms, you may have experienced the difficulty to explain some actual process or working of system. In that time you may wished if you embedded a video available in YouTube could have explain things correctly. For those persons who want to add videos to power up their presentation will be delighted by seeing this simple technique.

From Microsoft PowerPoint 2010, you can easily embed a video from a file directly into your presentation. If you have an earlier versions of PowerPoint, you can also embed an animated .gif file from the Clip Art library. PowerPoint will support QuickTime (.mov, .mp4) and Adobe Flash (.swf) files when you have installed the QuickTime and Adobe Flash players. To insert a video go to Insert tab, in the Media Clips group. There you can see the Movie and Sound buttons. On clicking Movie button shows Movie from File and Movie from Clip organizer. Click on Movie from File open up the insert movie box, select a movie file in Windows media or .avi format.

You can embed a video link or link to a video from your PowerPoint presentation. If you want to restrict the file size of your presentation, you can link to a video file on your computer drive or to a video file available in YouTube. Here in this case you can link to the YouTube video from the PowerPoint slide that will play when we clicks on the video link. But bear in mind that it depends on the internet connection available at the time of presentation. If you have a high speed internet connection available which is enough to play the movie with out any buffering delay. Then you can stream the YouTube video directly from the Internet. If you are not sure or no access of internet you should download the YouTube video in a supported format (or convert) on to your computer, then embed it as a local file into the slide where you want to add your presentation. After downloading the video as an AVI or WMV file, go to Insert tab, click Movie button and select Movie from file and and select the video that you want to add. You may noticed a dialog box asking ‘How do you want to start in the slide show?’ . You can choose Automatically or When clicked. If you chose Automatically, the movie begin to play automatically when you reached that slide. If you choose the option ‘When clicked’, the movie will be played only after clicking on the movie. I thought this is more convenient option in a presentation. After adding the movie you can see a preview button in the Movie Tools tab area. You can change the option ‘ Play movie’ from here also. There is also ‘Play Full screen’ and ‘Loop until stopped’ options are available. Drag the video around to position and resize within the slide. You can test the movie using the preview button.

If you are using PowerPoint 2010, you can easily link to an external video or movie file available on your computer from your presentation. If you want to reduce the file size of your presentation, you can link your video instead of embedding it to the presentation. To link a video, go to Slides tab in Normal view, click the slide to which you want to add a video, on the Insert tab, in the Media group, click the arrow under Video (as shown in the below picture) then click Video from File, locate and click the file that you want to link to. On the Insert button, click the down arrow, and then click Link to file.

You can directly link to a video in YouTube or hulu. For this in PowerPoint go to the Slides tab in Normal view, click the slide to which you want to add a video. Open your favorite browser, go to the web site that contains the video that you want to link to, such as YouTube or hulu. Locate the video that you want to embed and copy the Embed code. Then back to PowerPoint, on the Insert tab, in the Media group, click the arrow under Video. Click Video From Web Site. In the Video From Web Site dialog box, paste the embed code, and then click Insert. In PowerPoint 2010, click on the Video icon in the toolbar and choose ‘Video from Online Video Site’ from the drop down menu, a new window will pop up there paste the embed code copied from the YouTube. To get the embed code from YouTube, click the ‘Share’ button beneath the video player in YouTube and then clicking the ‘Embed’ button.

If you are using PowerPoint 2007, the process is a bit complicated, first you need to go to Office button, at the end you can find the PowerPoint Option’ click it, then under Popular place a tick mark next to Show Developer tab in the Ribbon and click OK. Now click on the new Developer tab and then click the More Controls icon, select Shockwave Flash Object , draw an area with your mouse where you want the video to be.Copy the URL of the YouTube video you want to embed. Right-click on the field you drew and select Properties paste the YouTube URL (modify the url as in the format http://www.youtube.com/v/bOcW_VYh_j0).

Tired of using this long way. You can easily insert YouTube videos into a PowerPoint slide using an add-on. All you need to do is to provide the YouTube video URL that appears in the browser address bar, the rest is taken care of by the add-on YTV Wizard. You can download and install the YTV Wizard from here, it will add a new ‘ YouTube Video’ command to your PowerPoint Toolbar next to the Media Clips group.

You can read this support page from Microsoft to get help to embed videos in PowerPoint. Which method you are using to embed YouTube videos in PowerPoint?
