In Chrome browser, Incognito mode opens a new window, you can browse the Internet in private without  saving your site visit activity. But remember, it won’t stop other sources from seeing what sites you’ve visited, like your Internet service provider, your employer (if you’re using a office computer) and the websites you visit  !

To access incognito mode in Google Chrome browser, Open Chrome, go to top right corner of the browser, click customize and control (the three dots), in the popup menu click ‘New Incognito Window’. A new black window will open. In the top corner, check for the grey Incognito icon to ensure you are in Incognito mode. You can also use a keyboard shortcut to open an Incognito window. In Windows, Linux, or Chrome OS: Press Ctrl + Shift + n. In Mac: Press ? + Shift + n.

Similarly Firefox also remembers lots of information for you like the sites you’ve visited, etc. To stop this you can use ‘Private Browsing’, which allows you to browse the Internet without saving any information about the sites and pages you’ve visited.  The tracking Protection in Private Browsing prevents companies from tracking your browsing history across multiple sites. To go to Private browsing in Firefox, Click the open menu button  on the top right corner (the three lines). Then click ‘New Private Window’ in the popup menu. You can also do it from a link in a webpage, for that, Right-click on any link and choose Open Link in New Private Window from the context menu. The link will open in private window.

IS Private Browsing give 100% privacy? No. It only give privacy in few things like, Visited pages (No pages will be added to the History menu, the Library window’s history list, or the Awesome Bar address list). It doesn’t save form filling and Search Bar entries (No autocomplete feature, nothing you entered into boxes on web pages or the Search bar will not be saved), another thing is Passwords (passwords will be not be saved). Files you downloaded will not be listed in the Downloads Window. No Cookies (Cookies store information about websites you visit, site preferences, login status, and data used by plugins like Adobe Flash).

1. Epic Browser – The Best Private Browser

5. Tor

Tor uses a different approach. The Tor protects you by bouncing your communications around a distributed network of relays run by volunteers all around the world, it prevents somebody watching your Internet connection from learning what sites you visit, it prevents the sites you visit from learning your physical location, and it lets you access sites which are blocked.

6. Avira Scout browser

Now a web browser from an antivirus maker. Scout is built with security and privacy as a central focus. Their technology, directly integrated into the browser, automatically blocks infected and phishing websites. Avira Scout integrates a no track functionality, which blocks companies such as Facebook and Twitter from monitoring what you visit, download and shop for.The browser also claims that it does not collect data.

Google Chrome

In the toolbar click the last button, the Wrench icon in the toolbar. In the new menu select Settings. A setting screen will open up in a new page. On that page you can see the ‘Search’ . There you can see button with a search engine name and ‘Manage search engines’ button. Select the search engine button (default, Google) to set which search engine is used by the browser when searching from the omnibox. You can find Google, Yahoo and Bing in the list. You can add new search engines by entering proper fields on ‘Other search engines’. If you want to enter Bing, Name –Bing, Keyword- Bing.com, URL with %S- http://www.bing.com/search?q=%s  in the box and click ok. You don’t worry about the URL, just go to the search engine site and do a simple search, you will get the link for search in the browser bar. Copy the code and replace  %s with your keyword. For Yahoo it is http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=%s .

Firefox

In Firefox, you can do it easily. The step is straight forward. Click the icon of the default search engine on the left side of the search box in the toolbar. A drop down list will be visible and select a search provider from the drop-down list and it will be instantly becomes your new default search engine. You can add more search engines to this list, click the ‘Manage Search Engines’ (the last one) in the drop-down list. A box will opens up and you can now rearrange and delete entries from the existing list. You can add additional search engines by clicking the ‘Get more search engines’. It will send you to Mozilla Firefox’s add-on page, where you can add more search engines to this list.

Internet Explorer

In Internet explorer, go to Tools on top menu or use (ALt+X) to access the tool menu. Click ‘Manage Add-ons’, then a box will opens up. In that choose the “Search Providers from the left pane. On the bottom of the toolbox, you can see the “Find more search providers’, and it will opens the Internet explorer add-ons gallery. Select search link on this page, type the name of search engine you want to add and follow the instruction to add it. To set a search provider as the default search provider, select the name and click in  “set as default’ button in the bottom right.
